Track and Field
2010 Summer: Samara Diaz represented Super Star Sports Club at the AAU Junior Olympic National Championships in Norfolk, VA from July 31st - August 7th. Samara competed in three Bantam events and approached her personal best times in all three races with excellent performances: 100 meters - 0:16.78, 200 meters - 0:34.35, and the 400 meters - 1:17.90. We are very proud of you Samara!

2010 Summer: Super Star Sports Club results from the 2010 USATF National Masters Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, CA on July 22th - 25th: Mark Barinque was FIFTH (THIRD American) in Long Jump - 5.53 meters (18' 1.75") and FIFTH (THIRD American) in Triple Jump - 10.82 meters (35' 6.00"); Oleg Sakirkin (Men 40-45) was THIRD in Long Jump - 6.14 meters (20' 1.75"), FIRST in Triple Jump - 12.36 meters (40' 6.75"); and Sharon Sakirkin (Women 40-45), was THIRD in Long Jump - 3.91 meters (12' 10.00"), THIRD in High Jump - 1.24 m (4' 0.75"), and THIRD in Triple Jump- 8.20 meters (26' 11.00"). Also from Amarillo, Bart Thomas (Men 35 - 40) finished SECOND in the Long Jump - 6.53 meters (21' 5.25") and FIRST in the Javelin Throw - 58.93 meters (193' 4").

2010 Summer: Every athlete from the Super Star Sports Club brought home a Gold medal in every one of their events from the AAU West Texas National Qualifiers in Abilene, TX on July 2nd - 3rd: Marcus Burk (Intermediate Boys), was FIRST in Shot Put - 12.19 meters (40' 0"); Samara Diaz (Bantam Girls) was FIRST in the 100 meters - 0:16.78, FIRST in the 200 meters - 0:34.31, and FIRST in the 400 meters -1:16.26; Ali Hassan (Young Men) was FIRST in the 800 meters - 2:02.00, and FIRST in the 1500 meters 4:23.73; and Philip Terry was FIRST in the 400 meters - 0:55.93. All of these athletes qualified to compete at the AAU National Junior Olympic Championships in Norfolk, VA. Receiving Byes to the National JO Championships based on previous performance marks were Jordan Coonts (Young Women) in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, and Destiny Montgomery (Youth Girls) in the 100 meters and Long Jump.

2010 Summer: Super Star Sports Club was present at three meets the last weekend of June and collected fourteen medals, ten of them Gold. Allen Simms placed 12th in Men's Triple Jump at the USATF National Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, IA on June 25th with a distance of 15.76 meters (51' 8½") [wind +1.8 m/s]. Allen is coached by Oleg and Sharon Sakirkin. Three athletes participated in the 6th Annual Cepero Meet in Odessa, TX on Jun 25th and 26th: Raeana Mayo (Sub-Midget Girls) was FIRST in Shot Put - 7.75 meters (25' 5"), SECOND in Long Jump - 43.05 meters (13' 4"), and SECOND in the 100 meters - 0:15.71; Jordan Coonts (Young Women) was FOURTH in Long Jump - 4.27 meters (14' 0¼"); and Ali Hassan (Young Men) was FIRST in the 800 meters - 2:02.95, SECOND in the 400 meters - 0:52.08, and was one of ten recipients of a $1,000 college scholarship. Five athletes competed at the Heartland Open/Masters Outdoor Meet in Kansas City, MO on June 26th. Melissa Anderson (Women 35-40) was FIRST in High Jump - 1.05 meters (3' 5¼"); James Anderson (Men 35-40) was FIRST in Javelin - 38.25 meters (125' 6"), and SECOND in the 100 meters - 0:15.25; Oleg Sakirkin (Men 40-45) broke the Asian Record for his age group and was FIRST in Triple Jump - 14.00 meters (45' 11"); and Sharon Sakirkin (Women 40-45) was FIRST in Long Jump - 3.84 meters (12' 7"), FIRST in Triple Jump - 8.27 meters (27' 1½"), FIRST in High Jump - 1.20 meters (3' 11"), FIRST in the 400 meters - 1:18.69, and FIRST in the 100 meters - 0:16.42.
Track and Field 2010 Summer: Six members of the Super Star Sports Club brought home twelve medals from the USATF West Texas Track and Field Championships in Odessa, TX on June 18th and 19th: Marcus Burk (Intermediate Boys), FIRST in Shot Put - 11.93 m (39' 2.0") and FIRST in Javelin - 15.24m (50' 0.0"); Jordan Coonts (Young Women), SECOND in Long Jump - 4.40 m (14' 5.50"), SECOND in Triple Jump - 10.02 m (32' 10.5"), THIRD in the 100 meters - 0:14.36, and FOURTH in the 200 meters - 0:29.52; Samara Diaz (Bantam Girls) was SECOND in the 100 meters - 0:16.12 (15.82q), and SECOND in the 200 meters - 0:33.75, and FIRST in the 400 meters - 1:17.15; Ali Hassan (Young Men) was FIFTH in the 200 meters - 0:25.05, FOURTH in the 400 meters - 0:52.70, and FIRST in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.35; and Destiny Montgomery (Youth Girls) was FOURTH in the 100 meters - 0:14.79, FOURTH in the 200 meters - 0:29.49, and SECOND in Long Jump - 4.72 m (15' 6.0"); and Philip Terry (Youth) was FIRST in the 400 meters - 0:56.01. All of these athletes qualified to participate in the USATF National Junior Olympic Qualifier next month.

2010 Summer: Six members of the Super Star Sports Club brought home seventeen medals, ten of them Gold, from the AAU West Texas Track and Field Championships in Midland, TX on June 12th: Marcus Burk (Intermediate Boys), FIRST in Shot Put - 11.67 m (38' 4.0"); Jordan Coonts (Young Women), FIRST in Long Jump - 4.53 m (14' 10.0"), FIRST in Triple Jump - 10.05 m (33' 0"), and SECOND in the 100 meters - 0:14.44; Samara Diaz (Bantam Girls) was FIRST in the 100 meters - 0:16.98, and FIRST in the 200 meters - 0:34.07, and FIRST in the 400 meters - 1:19.84; Ali Hassan (Young Men) was FIRST in the 100 meters - 0:12.54, FIRST in the 200 meters - 0:23.90, FIRST in the 800 meters - 2:02.25, and THIRD in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:50.00; Raeana Mayo (Sub-Midget Girls) was FIRST in Shot Put - 7.19 meters (23' 7.0"), SECOND in Long Jump - 4.01 meters (13' 2.0"), and SECOND in the 100 meters - 0:15.02; and Destiny Montgomery (Youth Girls) was SECOND in the 100 meters hurdles - 0:20.76, SECOND in Long Jump - 4.42 m (14' 6.0"), THIRD in the 100 meters - 0:14.92, and FOURTH in the 200 meters - 0:31.04. All of these athletes qualified to participate in the AAU Junior Olympic National Qualifier next month.

2010 Spring: Logan Brittan tied for third in Boys High Jump at the 35th Great Southwest Track and Field Classic hosted by the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM on June 5th. Logan equaled his personal all-time best jump of 2.08 m (6' 10") in this invitation-only meet. Logan represented Randall High School and is coached by Amy Rice and Jay Belcher with support from Oleg and Sharon Sakirkin.
Tennis
2010 Spring: We are very proud of Kati Mdzinarishvili for her efforts at the USTA National Open Championships held at College Park, Maryland from May 22nd - 26th. Kati played four strong matches (6/1, 6/1 vs. M. Audeh; 0/6, 0/6 vs. N. Frenkel; 6/4, 6/2 vs. M. Bridgham; and 0/6, 2/6 vs. N. Ndunda) and raised her national ranking amongst 3,000 14 year-old girls from 1040 to 750. Kati is coached by Alex Mdzinarishvili.

2010 Spring: Congratulations to Raeana Mayo for her performances at the Canyon Intermediate School Track and Field Meet on Friday May 21st. Raeana placed first in both her events amongst fifth grade girls with a 100 m sprint time of 15.41 s and a 46.6 m (153') softball throw. Raeana is coached by Oleg and Sharon Sakirkin.

2010 Spring: We are very proud of the accomplishments of Logan Brittain and Libby Strickland at the UIL Texas State Championships in Track & Field on May 14th. Logan placed fourth in Boys High Jump with a performance of 1.98 m (6' 6"). Libby placed sixth in Girls High Jump with a performance of 1.57 m (5' 2"). These athletes jump for Randall High School and are coached by Amy Rice and Jay Belcher with support from Oleg and Sharon Sakirkin.

2010 Spring: Congratulations to Victoria Ewulo, Jordan Coonts, and Allison Martinez for their performances at the UIL Region 1-5A Championships in Lubbock, TX on May 4th. Victoria won a bronze medal in Girls High Jump with a result of 1.62 m (5' 4"). Jordan finished 20th in Girls Triple Jump with a result of 10.01 m (32' 10¼"). Allison finished 8th in Girls Long Jump with a result of 5.12 m (16' 9¾"). These athletes jump for Amarillo High School and are coached by Trent Lankford and Jay Hufstedler with support from Oleg and Sharon Sakirkin

2010 Spring: Our outdoor track & field training and conditioning programs begin on Monday, May 3rd and will run throughout the summer. We will offer complete training for track & field events including at least triple jump, long jump, high jump, sprints, and hurdles. General conditioning is open to athletes from any sport. All sessions will be held on the track at Randall or Amarillo high schools, and during inclement weather at the Courts of Amarillo. We will offer multiple training times during the mornings and evenings, on weekdays and weekends. Swimming
2010 Spring: Congratulations to Marina Cummiskey her performances at the Alaska Swimming Junior Olympics Championship held in Anchorage, Alaska on April 15 - 18. Marina swam in the 10 and under age group and recorded personal best times in all of her events. She finished 5th in the 200 yard freestyle relay (2:19.78: anchor split 32.93 s), 6th in the 200 yard medley relay (2:46.18; backstroke split 48.00), 6th in the 100 yard freestyle (1:12.50 s), 8th in the 100 yard backstroke (1:23.94 s), 10th in the 50 yard backstroke (39.16 s), and 13th in the 50 yard freestyle (33.13 s). Marina swims for the Kodiak Kingfishers Swim Club in Kodiak, Alaska and is coached by John Lindquist.

2010 Spring: Congratulations to Marina Cummiskey and Devon Cummiskey for their performances at the Kodiak Kingfishers Swim Club Home Meet on April 2 - 3. In the 10 and under age group, Marina finished first in five events: 100 yard freestyle (1:13.50 s), 100 yard backstroke (1:28.40 s), 200 yard freestyle relay (2:25.00; split 34.23 s), 25 yard freestyle (34.33 s), 50 yard backstroke (41.38 s), and third in the 50 yard breaststroke (53.20 s). She qualified for the Alaska Junior Olympics in the four freestyle and backstroke events. In the same age category seven-year-old Devon finished eighth in the 100 yard freestyle (1:49.18 s). In the 8 and under age group, Devon finished first in the 100 yard freestyle relay (1:41.08; split 39.59 s), 25 yard backstroke (26.08 s), and the 25 yard breaststroke (34.09 s). She finished second in the 25 yard backstroke (26.08 s). These athletes swim for the Kodiak Kingfishers Swim Club in Kodiak, Alaska and are coached by John Lindquist.

2010 Spring: Congratulations to Jordan Coonts on qualifying for the UIL Region1-5A Championships with her 10.79 meter performance in Girls Triple Jump at the UIL District 2 Championships in Odessa, TX on April 16th. Congratulations also to Paris Paetzold who placed fourth with a triple jump of 10.37 m (34' ¼"), Robin Louden for her fifth place triple jump of 10.34 m (33' 11"), Victoria Ewulo for earning third place with her high jump of 1.62 m (5' 4"), and Allison Martinez for her second place long jump of 5.14 m (16' 10½"). These athletes jump for Amarillo High School and are coached by Trent Lankford and Jay Hufstedler with support from Oleg and Sharon Sakirkin.

2010 Winter: Andi Rose of Canyon High School has signed to join the Lubbock Christian
University (LCU) Lady Chaparrals volleyball squad under head coach Jennifer Lawrence. Andi is currently the team captain for the Canyon High School varsity volleyball team under head
coach Lorrie Hammit, and she trains with Oleg and Sharon Sakirkin. Andi produced 337 kills, 73
aces, 195 digs and 65 blocks this season and claimed First Team
All-District honors for a second consecutive season. Super Star Sports congratulates Andi on her volleyball scholarship and wishes her a bright future at LCU.

2010 Winter: Congratulations to Allen Simms on his Bronze medal in Mens Triple Jump at the 2010 USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, NM on Feb 27th. Allen jumped 16.49 meters and is coached by Sharon and Oleg Sakirkin.
Volleyball
2010 Winter: Conditioning and Jump Training classes for volleyball players begin on January 18th. Classes will be held at the Courts of Amarillo on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with Sharon and Oleg Sakirkin. There will be three classes each night starting at 6:00, 7:00, and 8:00. 2009-Jan: Kati Mdzinarishvili of Amarillo, TX has qualified to compete at the United States Tennis Association National Open Championships to be held in El Paso, Texas at the El Paso Tennis Center on February 14th.
Track and Field Athletics
2009-Jan: West Texas A&M University has revived their men's and women's track and field program and contracted Darren Flowers as Head Coach. Recently the university announced a commitment to construct new outdoor facilities and provide more opportunities for students in track and field. The men's team will begin competing in the Spring of 2009 and the women will begin in the Spring of 2010.
Ice Skating
2008-Dec: The Amarillo Ice Skating School has announced an agreement with Amarillo College to offer instructional classes in ice skating with the Continuing Education Department and Kids College. Classes will be available starting in January for children and adults from beginner to intermediate skill levels.
Gymnastics
2008-Nov: Amarillo Competitive Gymnastics Team has acquired the services of choreographer Sharon Sakirkin. Gymnasts at Level 6 and higher can take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to have professionally choreographed floor and beam routines. Music editing services are also available.
Ice Sports
2006-Dec: The Concho Valley Ice Sports Association proudly introduces themselves. This newly-formed consortium is dedicated to a cooperative effort at improving the quality and opportunity for ice sports in the Concho Valley region. Member associations include the Concho Valley Ice Skating School, the San Angelo Amateur Hockey Association, the San Angelo Adult Hockey League, the San Angelo Saints Professional Hockey Team (Concho Valley Pro Hockey), and the Storm Varsity Hockey Teams (San Angelo Central High School).
