and we will be happy to provide you with our best answer.

Q:  Will your training make me sore?
A:  After the first two or three sessions you may feel soreness in your muscles.  After your body becomes accustomed to our training the soreness will diminish.  If you have sore muscles, we recommend gentle activity such as jogging for ten minutes, followed by our warm-up exercises.  The worst thing to do is lie on the couch!  A hot bath, time in the sauna, and massage are also helpful.

Q:  Can I train with you right before or after I have a practice?
A:  Yes, you can.  If you train with us after you practice, your body will be better prepared for our drills and you will get a lot out of them.  Alternately, training with us before you practice should not interfere with your performance and you will probably have the added benefit of less muscle soreness the next day, and faster muscle recovery.  You might be a little tired, but you won't feel "dead-legged".

Q:  Will your conditioning program give me bulky muscles?
A:   Absolutely not.  We design our programs very carefully to avoid this.  Our drills are often comprised of several exercises in sequence, done in a special order, so that your muscles will develop a long and lean type of strength.  Athletes who require agility and jumping skills must maximize their strength versus body weight ratio.  A strong, lean athlete will outperform another strong athlete who carries a lot of bulk.

Q:  Can you help me to jump higher/farther?
A:  Yes, we can.  Not only do we work on maximizing your strength versus body weight ratio, but we also train your muscles to be more powerful.  Power depends on how strong you are and how fast your muscles can work.  You can teach your muscles to be more explosive, and many of our drills are designed to do just that.  Most of our athletes notice a difference in their vertical jump after only two or three weeks of training.

Q: What if I have an important competition coming up?
A:  For us, every competition is important.  Our programs are periodized according to your sport's season - we call these very important periods macrocycles.  Microcycles are shorter periods determined in part by your competition schedule and they are also important.  Therefore, we need to know when each of your meets are, at least one week ahead.  That way we can properly adjust your training so that your body will achieve peak performance when you want it to.  We also like to know when your regular practices are.

Q:  How much do you charge?
A:  Cost varies depending on how you participate because we generally charge by time, not by athlete.  For example, if you are involved with a club or team the cost can be as low as $5 per hour depending on the number of athletes in your group.  These types of programs often require pre-season registration.  For our privately scheduled sessions we charge a flat rate of $10 on a pay-as-you come basis, and a discounted rate of $80 if you purchase ten sessions ahead of time.  During track season we often donate our time to local high schools, so you may have an opportunity to work with us at no cost!

Q:  What about sport accident insurance?
A:  If you train with us through an arrangement with your club, you are likely covered by sport accident insurance provided by your national governing body.  If we are working with you outside of any club program, we will require you to join our Super Star Sports Club which is a non-profit club with the United States Track and Field Association.  The annual membership fee is $20, and with your membership you will be covered under USATF sport accident insurance benefits.

Q:  Where do you train?
A:  We operate at a variety of places in and around Amarillo, TX.  During warm, good weather we are often outside at various track facilities, including Randall, Amarillo, and Tascosa High Schools.  During cold or inclement weather we operate out of various indoor facilities, including the Courts of Amarillo and Amarillo College.  We are flexible with our training locations as long as they are safe.

Q:  When do you train?
A:  Our schedule changes with the revolving sports seasons throughout the year.  In the summer we take advantage of longer daylight hours and cooler periods of the day.   We usually offer early morning and evening sessions on weekdays, and morning sessions on weekends.  During the winter we run indoor programs after school, and sometimes on the weekends depending on meet schedules.  If you are interested in working with us during a time we don't have a program normally scheduled, just let us know and we will try to accommodate you.

Q:  Do you work with coaches?
A:  We are very happy to provide support to area coaches, and we often do so pro bono.  We can advise you on periodization, aspects of your training program, recommend specific drills to enhance athlete performance in specific events, and even provide technical jump analyses.  We love consulting with coaches, because we learn from them too.

Q:  I am moving away from the Texas Panhandle and need to find a new coach.  Can you help me?
A:  Probably.  The sports world is very small, especially at the top.  Your current coach may be able to advise you, but we are also happy to help.  We have connections across the United States and in many countries around the world.

Q:  How do I change coaches?
A:   You must first discuss your intent with your current coach.  They may be able to recommend another coach well-suited to meet your needs.  Do not be concerned with offending them - a professional coach will respect your decision.  It is very important to inform your old coach that you intend to make a change, and to settle your account before beginning any training with a new coach.  Most professional coaches will require this prior to taking you on.
