Being a champion does not necessarily make for a good coach.  Great coaches have a very special skill which enables them to share their knowledge with the athlete in such a way that the athlete is able to both understand, and apply information, and ultimately improve their performance.  We believe we have that talent, and our passion is sharing it with our athletes.

Our coaching philosophy includes implementing a safe, progressive approach and correct physical preparation for every athlete.  All sports have certain skills that require special preparation before they can be attempted.  It is absolutely essential that athletes are properly prepared before they attempt certain sports skills.  Preparation prevents injury, formation of poor habits, reduces the time it takes to master skills, and ultimately sets the athlete up for success.  We have the knowledge, experience, and expertise to ensure the athlete is correctly prepared.

SPORT-SPECIFIC CONDITIONING
A regular conditioning program is an integral part of athletic preparation.  Such conditioning must be designed with the particular sport in mind.  For example, training for football is much different than training for volleyball.  We create work-outs comprised of plyometrics, resistance, sprints, resistance, body-weight or weight management, power, strength, and agility drills.  These drills are done in various combinations a certain order to accomplish fitness goals tuned to your specific sport.  For example, our program for volleyball, basketball, and jump events (track and field) are carefully designed to develop lean muscle strength and explosive power without increasing mass or bulk.

SKILL DRILLS
Another very important aspect of correct athletic preparation are our unique "skill drills" which prepare athletes for specific skills via safe, progressive exercises.  You cannot perform a skill well unless your body is properly prepared.  Further, you cannot improve a skill by simply practicing it over and over - that only ingrains mistakes.  We don't practice mistakes!  We train skills through progressive exercises designed to teach the body the correct movements required to master the skill.  We train these exercises first, before the skill is ever attempted.  Often our athletes are successful in their very first attempts at a new skill.  This is a tremendous boost to an athlete's self-confidence, and goes a long way towards developing consistency.

JUMP TRAINING
We are highly qualified and know what we are doing when it comes to jumping.  If you are interested in increasing your vertical or horizontal jump, we can help you attain your goal.

FITNESS ASSESSMENT
We regularly assess the condition of our athletes through standardized and our own customized testing methods.  This is important for determining initial areas of strength and weakness, monitoring development, and making performance predictions.  We maintain a database of all of our fitness assessments use this information to enhance our programs.

PERIODIZATION
Seasonal periodization was mastered by Soviet coaches by the mid 1980's and their approach remains excellent today.  We are experienced in the principles of Soviet periodization and use that knowledge to create seasonal training plans for all of our athletes, regardless of their level of ability.  It is a good thing to perform well, but a better thing to perform well when it counts.

NUTRITION FOR ATHLETES
We have a good understanding of the special dietary needs of athletes and can help you asses your own nutritional needs.

MENTAL TRAINING
Your mind has tremendous influence over your athletic performance.  Mental training can improve your results and prepare you for competition.  We employ various mental training techniques in our coaching, but we also encourage you to develop this skill on your own.  We can provide you with a Weekly Training Journal and support you as you maintain it.
